100 Questions


100 questions for my 100th post! Let’s learn a little more about me, shall we?

  1. Grab the book nearest to you, turn to page 18, and find line 4. “He wondered what Mark was doing in Puerto Rico, and why his warning had come from there.” (from Alas, Babylon)
  2. Stretch your left arm out as far as you can, What can you touch? Nothing, I’m sitting at my dining room table (aka my desk … I need an office something fierce).
  3. Before you started this survey, what were you doing? Laundry
  4. What is the last thing you watched on TV? The Mentalist (last night)
  5. Without looking, guess what time it is. It’s 5:00 somewhere!
  6. Now look at the clock. What is the actual time? 5:35 pm
  7. With the exception of the computer, what can you hear? The washing machine churning and “Lucky Star” by Madonna … good song.
  8. When did you last step outside? What were you doing? Coming home from work. I was outside on the way to the car and from the car to the house. It was beautiful out today.
  9. Did you dream last night? YES. It was WEIRD. Lately I’ve been dreaming about major struggles … the end times … or major disasters or weather situations happening and the struggles throughout. Needless to say I’m exhausted!
  10. Do you remember your dreams? Most of the time.
  11. When did you last laugh? Earlier at work.
  12. Do you remember why/at what? A student had sent in a Certificate of Baptism to help prove her residency. Yeah, not so much.
  13. What is on the walls of the room you are in? A pretty green I picked out myself before moving into my condo. I chose the colors of the living/dining room (Behr – Spring Hill), kitchen (Behr – Provence Creme), and bedrooms (Behr – Coastal Mist) and went to town and painted the whole condo the day after I signed and got my key … all before I moved in! I must say, even after three years, I’m very pleased with my color choices.
  14. Seen anything weird lately? Lots of weird stuff … mostly weird situations or weird computer issues.
  15. What do you think of this quiz? Different than ones I’ve answered before.
  16. What is the last film you saw? I watched How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days this weekend (again).
  17. If you could live anywhere in the world, where would you live? Tough question. I think I’d really like to live in NYC or London probably … somewhere cosmopolitan and cultured. Though really I’d also love to live in a beach house on an island somewhere. Decisions, decisions.
  18. If you became a multi-millionaire overnight, what would you buy? My condo outright. Man I hate having a mortgage. Then probably a newer car. Then I’d rent out the condo and build my dream home.
  19. Tell me something about you that most people don’t know. I’m allergic to titanium and found out via a naval ring infection when I was younger.
  20. If you could change one thing about the world, regardless of guilt or politics, what would you do? Wait, can I change people? Because if so I’d get rid of selfishness. If people weren’t selfish and self-centered it’d probably solve all the problems right there. If I can’t change people, hmmmm, I’d make sure that we weren’t oil dependent probably.
  21. Do you like to dance? ALWAYS. I get that from my mother.
  22. Would you ever consider living abroad? Of course.
  23. Does your name make any interesting anagrams? Unfortunately not really, Acorn. Not very exciting.
  24. Who made the last incoming call on your phone? My roommie.
  25. What is the last thing you downloaded onto your computer? Sims 2 Free Time. When Sims 3 is released I’m removing Sims 2 and selling it and then installing Sims 3. I’m soooo addicted.
  26. Last time you swam in a pool? Wow, it’s been a while, even though my mom has one in the backyard and there is one in my complex. I really can’t remember the last time.
  27. Type of music you like most? Probably acoustic rock. Anything I can bop my head back and forth to or dance to.
  28. Type of music you dislike most? Probably Heavy Metal or Gangsta Rap.
  29. Are you listening to music right now? Yes, I have a Pottery Barn Mix in the CD player … Backyard Party Volume 2 … it’s currently on “Baby What’d I Say” by Ray Charles. Gosh I love that song! Oh, wait, just switched to “Hard to Handle” the Otis Redding version. This really is a good CD 🙂
  30. What color is your bedroom carpet? Oatmeal. I’m soooo ready for hardwood floors!
  31. If you could change something about your home, without worry about expense or mess, what would you do? See previous comment.
  32. What was the last thing you bought? I bought a Sprite.
  33. Have you ever ridden on a motorbike? Yes. Several times, several different types.
  34. Would you go bungee jumping or sky diving? Sky diving for sure … no way do I want to be jerked on a rope like you are in bungee jumping. No thank you.
  35. Do you have a garden? Nope. I do not have a green thumb.
  36. Do you really know all the words to your national anthem? Not like I should. I can fake it with the best of  ’em though!
  37. What is the first thing you think of when you wake up in the morning? NO! It can’t be time to get up yet!
  38. If you could eat lunch with one famous person, who would it be? Right now I’d like to eat lunch with Rob Bell. I know he’s not famous in the sense that most of y’all are thinking but he’s brilliant and inspiring and I’d love to sit and have a conversation with him.
  39. Who sent the last text message you received? My roomie.
  40. Which store would you choose to max out your credit card? Ann Taylor for sure!
  41. What time is bed time? Usually between 10 and 11 pm.
  42. Have you ever been in a beauty pageant? No thank you.
  43. How many tattoos do you have? Zero.
  44. If you don’t have any, have you ever thought of getting one? Sometimes. Maybe a little star or cross somewhere. But it’d be hidden so what’s the point, right?
  45. What did you do for your last birthday? It was my 30th … OMG! I actually went to Disney World with my sister because this year it was free on your birthday and then the next day I had a party with my friends here in town.
  46. Do you carry a donor card? It says I’m an organ donor on my driver’s license.
  47. Who was the last person you ate dinner with? Hmmm. I’ve been eating at home a lot lately (due to our current economic crisis) but on Sunday I met the girls for book club and had a snack of mushroom empanadas and they were yummy. Does that count?
  48. Is the glass half empty or half full? Depends on my mood. Sometimes I think: man, I still have half a glass here … cool. Then other times I think: wow, I only have half a glass … where’d it go?
  49. What’s the farthest-away place you’ve been? I’ve been to Europe and will be traveling to visit my sister, Ashley, in California this June. I’d still like to visit Asia one day which, of course, would be on the opposite side of the world and therefore the farthest I could ever travel.
  50. When’s the last time you ate a homegrown tomato? Ooooh. Long time. I do eat organic ones sometimes so that’s almost like being home grown.
  51. Have you ever won a trophy? In cheerleading … most improved. It had more to do with my attitude than my athletic ability. I’m very stubborn and bull-headed.
  52. Are you a good cook? Sometimes. I’m a great baker and when I don’t try so hard I can cook fairly well.
  53. Do you know how to pump your own gas? Of course. Crazy question to ask in these times.
  54. If you could meet any one person (from history or currently alive), who would it be? I’d love to talk with Mother Teresa and pick her brain. One of my favorite quotes from her is, “Preach the gospel always and when necessary use words.” AMAZING woman!
  55. Have you ever had to wear a uniform to school? Nope. Though in my private school up north we had polo’s to wear on Friday’s or something.
  56. Do you touch-type? I do, but that doesn’t mean that my fingers are in the correct position and I frequently make mistakes.
  57. What’s under your bed? Some rugs my grandmother gave me that will go on my hardwood floors one day … some day. :::::Sigh:::::
  58. Do you believe in love at first sight? I believe in lust at first sight. I do believe though that you know almost right away if you’re truly compatible with a person.
  59. Think fast, what do you like right now? I like the band Chicago. “Saturday in the Park” is playing right now. LOL.
  60. Where were you on Valentine’s day? I honestly don’t remember. I haven’t had a significant other for quite some time now (we won’t go into that right now) and this past Valentine’s day was probably just like any other day.
  61. What time do you get up? Usually 6:45 am.
  62. What was the name of your first pet? Ralphie. What a good kitty. He was definitely a scrappy pound kitty. He never liked anyone to hold him except mom but we loved him bunches.
  63. Who is the second to last person to call you? A lady from church asking me how my life group was going. I really am loving my church.
  64. Is there anything going on this weekend? Friday night my sister is coming to town and staying at my house. I’m heading down to a friends for the evening. A festival is in town and we’re going out and enjoying ourselves. Saturday night is another girls night out with different friends and then Sunday is Mother’s Day. I’ll drive down to mom’s and have lunch with mom and grandma at the club.
  65. How are you feeling right now? Exhausted … see previous comment about the crazy dreams and the not sleeping very well. Combine that with a very stressful job and … well … you see where I’m going.
  66. What do you think about the most? God and His infinite wisdom and love. He always has a plan even though we don’t always know what it is. I think about the Bebo Norman song “I will lift my eyes” because the lyrics explain my relationship with Him. I will lift my eyes to the maker of the mountains I can’t climb, I will lift my eyes to the calmer of the oceans raging wild, I will lift my eyes to the healer of the hurt I hold inside, I will lift my eyes to you oh Lord. I also think about the line from Tenth Avenue North‘s song “By Your Side” where He says, please don’t fight these hands that are holding you. I am always fighting to do it my way but I need to remember that His power is infinite and He will always protect me and guide me if I just put my faith in Him.
  67. If you had A Big Win in the Lottery, how long would you wait to tell people? Hmmm. I think that I’d have to tell people right away. The publicity would spread like wildfire so I’d have to put it out there right at the beginning.
  68. Who would you tell first? My mom would be the first person I’d call. She’s always the first person I call.
  69. What is the last movie that you saw at the cinema? I went and saw Duplicity with my friend Tyler. It was a good movie but didn’t have the ending I was expecting or wanting.
  70. Do you sing in the shower? Most days.
  71. What do you do most when you are bored? Read or play Sims 2.
  72. What do you do for a living? I work as an Enrollment Services Counselor at a University. I help students with Admissions, Financial Aid, and Records and Registration. Yes, that’s a lot of information to keep up in my brain readily accessible at any moment. I sometimes feel like I have information overload.
  73. Do you love your job? Sometimes. I have days where I really feel like I’m helping and making a difference and then there are other times where I feel like a cog in the machine and other times where I feel like all I do is put out fires all day.
  74. What did you want to be when you grew up? A mommy. Honestly. I think one time I wanted to be an actress but I never grew over 5’2″ and realized that they always wanted me to play kid parts and I could never really be what I wanted. I also wanted to be a Rockette but again with the height thing …
  75. If you could have any job, what would you want to do/be? See previous comment. I sure hope that one day I am given the opportunity to be a mother. I think that would make me the most happy.
  76. Which came first the chicken or the egg? The chicken. God placed all the animals on the earth first, then they reproduced 🙂
  77. How many keys on your key ring? 5 – Work, Car, House, Mailbox, Storage.
  78. Where would you retire to? An island somewhere and truly live the Jimmy Buffett lifestyle … I can picture it now
  79. What kind of car do you drive? 2004 Toyota Camry LE. Thank you grandma hoo hoo.
  80. What are your best physical features? I’ve been told I’ve got a great smile and people seem to like that I’m blonde hair green eyed instead of the typical blue eyed blonde.
  81. What are your best characteristics? I’m funny and loving and intelligent. I’m also outgoing and loyal and confident and outspoken and friendly and heard-headed and always right and impatient and demanding and wait … now I’m starting to list the not so great ones … where was I? Oh, yeah, I was just supposed to list the best ones … not all of them. Oh well. That’s very characteristic of myself.
  82. If you could go anywhere in the world on vacation where would you go? Right now I’m torn between Eastern Europe, Germany, Australia, Ireland, or Africa. I have way too many places I want to go and see. I LOVE to travel!
  83. What kind of books do you like to read? Lots of different kinds – Self-help, non-fiction, horror, etc. I LOVE to read!
  84. What is your favorite time of the day? Depends. Even though I hate actually getting out of bed in the morning I find that mornings are the most peaceful and beautiful and when you can really commune with God and be in awe of His creation.
  85. Where did you grow up? Northern Virginia … wouldn’t trade my childhood for any other. I especially loved when we lived in Countryside out in Sterling, VA off of Route 7.
  86. How far away from your birthplace do you live now? About 700 miles.
  87. What are you reading now? I have about a dozen books I’m back and forth between. I’m reading Alas, Babylon for book club and I’m also really facinated recently with Dark Star Safari by Paul Theroux about his journey through Africa.
  88. Are you a morning person or a night owl? Neither really though I think I answer that best with question 84.
  89. Can you touch your nose with your tongue? Yes. Though I can’t lick my elbow but my sister, Lauren, can.
  90. Can you close your eyes and raise your eyebrows? Yes. What kind of question is this?
  91. Do you have pets? Not that live with me, but my mommy has two adorable kitties, Sadie and Richie. Both are maine coons and couldn’t be cuter or more intelligent and loving animals.
  92. How many rings before you answer the phone? Usually right away if I hear it.
  93. What is your best childhood memory? Too many to pick just one. I really loved when my sister’s were born. I loved riding bikes in the neighborhood with Colleen. I loved sleepovers at Jen’s on Saturday nights and going to church with her at Capitol Hill Baptist downtown D.C. I really had a great time as a kid.
  94. What are some of the different jobs that you have had in your life? I was a babysitter, I worked at K-Mart in high school. I worked in the mailroom, was a Resident Assistant in housing, worked at the Child Development Center, and worked in Library Circulation in college. I worked as a nanny for a few years. I did mailouts in Admissions, was a program assistant in the Registrar’s Office, and right now I work in Enrollment Services at the University.
  95. What is most important in your life? Having a personal relationship with my savior.
  96. Have you broken any bones? My hip. In cheerleading we were learning the basket-toss and I was the flier. As I was up in the air I realized that they weren’t going to catch me and I turned my head to the right to look over my shoulder, which you’re not supposed to do. It actually was a good thing because they didn’t catch me and I hit the ground hard. It was actually a blessing that I had landed on my right hip because if I had stayed straight I would have landed and most likely broken my back which would have been a much worse injury.
  97. How many TV’s do you have in your house? Only one! I’ve wanted to purchase a 40″ LCD but don’t have the funds right now so until then I’ll make due with my tiny Magnavox.
  98. What is your favorite season? Fall. I love the smell of crisp fall air and I love the harvest season.
  99. What’s your favorite food? SEAFOOD. I could eat it every day.
  100. Would you rather be attacked by a big bear or a swarm of bees? Anyone that knows me knows how much I LOATHE bees. I can’t stand hearing the buzzing and I’m deathly afraid of being stung. I’ve been stung over 14 times in my life and I hate it. Therefore I can honestly say that I’d much rather be attacked by a bear.
