Today I’m listening to Christmas music on Pandora (yes I broke down and purchased a plan so I can listen without interruption) and “Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)” by Darlene Love was playing and I got to thinking (can’t you smell the wood burning?). You know, this song is a much better version than Mariah Carey‘s. I mean, I still like the Mariah Carey Merry Christmas album, don’t get me wrong, but I like this version of the song so much more.
I like that This video is from an episode of the Late Show. The girl still has it man … she’s awesome. I like her singing this song better than anyone else. Especially love the version from the album A Christmas Gift For You which features something from all of Phil Spector’s major acts. It is one of Darlene’s solo recordings without the Blossoms, and possibly has the Ronettes on back-up. And now, for your listening/viewing pleasure … without further adieu … enjoy!
My favorite version of this song is the one from Love Actually. That movie just makes me smile!

Good grief I’m a moron. I even watched the video you posted, but I didn’t realize I was thinking of a completely different song until I looked up the Love Actually one on youtube to watch. *sigh* I was thinking of “All I want for Christmas is You,” another song that Mariah Carey also did.
